Queen's University, Department of Pediatrics | General Pediatrician

The Department of Pediatrics in the Queen’s Health Sciences at Queen’s University invites applications for a General Pediatrician to join its Division of Acute Care and General Pediatrics. The division is a group of seven clinicians, who work together to provide a breadth of pediatric care for children and youth in our community. They provide the majority of the coverage for the Pediatric Urgent Care Centre which runs 5 days a week (approximately 8000 visits/year), conduct consultative pediatric clinics, act as MRP for the 17 bed pediatric inpatient unit (which includes 6 level 2 PICU beds) and provide overnight call for the general ward inpatient and level 2 PICU units.

The successful applicant must have a strong interest and associated skills in outpatient consultation care, including mental health and acute/emergency/urgent problems of children and adolescents. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong aptitude for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and/or research. Preference will be given to applicants with extra training/skills in complex care, or acute care/pediatric emergency medicine. Advanced training or demonstrated leadership in medical education would be an asset. Applicants should provide evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and have or will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Completion of training and qualifications in General Pediatrics is required. Preference will be given to applicants who are Royal College or American Board certified in Pediatrics and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Members of the Department of Pediatrics enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefits plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance, life insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. Employees also participate in a pension plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying employees, their spouses and dependent children. Queen’s values families and is pleased to provide a ‘top up’ to government parental leave benefits for eligible employees on maternity/parental leave. In addition, Queen’s provides partial reimbursement for eligible daycare expenses for employees with dependent children in daycare. For more information on employee benefits, see Queen’s Human Resources.
