CLINICAL NEUROPHYSIOLOGIST DIVISION OF NEUROLOGY - CHEO/University of Ottawa

The Department of Pediatrics at CHEO, University of Ottawa is recruiting a full-time clinical neurophysiologist within the Division of Neurology.

The ideal candidate will be Royal College (neurology) certified or equivalent, will have passed the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists EEG exam, and will have more than two additional years of training in epilepsy/EEG; in addition; they should also have a demonstrated interest in both research and education. The successful candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa at an academic rank commensurate with experience. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.


The Department of Pediatrics is affiliated with CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. Together, we provide outstanding patient care, leading research, and quality pediatric medical education. The Department of Pediatrics provides health care to newborns, children and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario (population of approximately 1.8 million). The Department of Pediatrics has 18 distinct divisions, which includes Neurology.

The Division of Neurology provides neurological care for the children including general neurology as well as specialized clinics in epilepsy, sleep, white matter disorders, movement disorders and neuromuscular disorders. The successful candidate will join our division and will participate in EEG interpretation, will be responsible for the day-to-day organization of the neurophysiology lab, and will coordinate epilepsy surgery consultations. The successful candidate will also participate in research and educational activities. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong academic interest in education and research.

We educate residents in pediatric neurology in our Royal College program in pediatric neurology and are also involved in education for pediatric, adult neurology and rehabilitation medicine residents. We are active members of many research networks nationally and internationally and are also involved in education research.
