ACADEMIC PEDIATRIC EMERGENTOLOGIST


The Department of Pediatrics, McGill University, the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) seeks applicants in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine for a Full-Time Academic Pediatric Emergentologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (commensurate with credentials) with a projected initial start date of September 2019. The candidate should be certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or possess comparable qualifications) and be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec. Candidates must have or endeavour to obtain a working knowledge of both French and English. The candidate should be able to demonstrate skills and training in a niche area that is commensurate with the Division’s strategic goals, as well as success in education, research and/or innovation in this regard in their career to date.

The Montreal Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care Academic Pediatric Hospital whose Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine boasts a new (2015), state-of-the-art, 39-bed Emergency Department with an annual patient census of over 80 000 visits.

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine consists of 23 highly trained and experienced BC/BE staff physician core members who are a cohesive and energetic team dedicated to research, clinical excellence, teaching and innovation. Members of the Division are actively involved in diverse scholarly activities both at the hospital and university level with expertise in, but not limited to, trauma, patient safety, quality improvement, clinical innovation, medical informatics, medical education, simulation, disaster medicine and toxicology.

The Division’s research infrastructure is presently supported by a full-time research assistant, a junior protected researcher, The McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine which provides researchers access to a full range of clinical research services in a state-of-the-art environment dedicated to clinical research and the Research Institute of the MUHC. The Division also has access to the state-of-the-art Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning to use for its training, teaching and research endeavors.
