The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provided critical care to 900 children per annum as a mixed, closed general medical and surgical intensive care unit with an overall mortality of 2%. We provide extracorporeal life support, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, continuous renal replacement therapy, high frequency oscillation, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, as well as conventional mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and inotropic support. Pediatric cardiac surgery is not performed at the ACH.

We invite suitable applicants to apply for Clinical Associate positions now available with the ACH PICU.

Applicants must be able to be licensed with the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons and preferably have, or be en-route to having, FRCPC in Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensive Care, Anesthesiology, Adult or Pediatric Emergency Medicine or a related discipline. Alternatively, IMGs with Fellowship training in Pediatric Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Anesthesiology will be considered.

A minimum of 0.5 FTE commitment to the position is ideally required. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Applicants must be highly motivated and be ideally interested in a long-term career in the Alberta Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. But note that this is not an accredited position for the purposes of training in Pediatric Intensive Care. There will be opportunity for teaching, quality assurance and research work, as well as clinical duties.

The salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of training, qualifications and experience.

Please contact Dr. Simon Parsons if you are interested or have questions.
